21 years young

Hello,

I just recently turned the pivotal age of 21. The age when buying silly sauce no longer means I have to ask a senior or grow out a beard and put on a deeper voice.  The age when spending all my singles on a half naked woman is legal.  The age when mommy and daddy start rearranging your room... for your eventual move out.  The age when my fridge is 75 percent beer, 24 percent soda, and 1 percent chinese food from that night I ordered out but couldn't finish my dumplings.   Ah, the age when I have to run a background check on any one night stand ("How old are you?").  The age when people stop telling you, "You can do anything," and start asking you, "What are you going to do?"

Well, I'll tell you what I'm going to do: I'm going to make a name for myself.  I'm going to cock out with my rock out in my last year at Wesleyan University.  I'm going to make 5 short films over the next year (look for them on my production company's blog, which goes up september 10).  I'm going to tell a hipster that dressing like you have no money is a slap in the face to those that have no money.  I'm going to shave my ass.  That's right, just shave it.  I'm going to get a pet monkey and call him zebra, just to fuck with him.

If you wanna celebrate (belatedly) my 21st birthday, come down to the Broadway Comedy Club on September 27 at 8:30pm and laugh so hard your grandma will giggle.

Pandaphants. Or elepandas

I wanted to share this. No, it does not really have anything to do with CakeHeads as a group, per se, but rather because I can't stop thinking about this. Is it cruel to the elephant? I think it's probably terribly humiliating. But then again, I've been known to dress as a different species from time to time myself -- I enjoy a good strut in a banana costume, and my go-to Halloween getup is to strap on a tail and some animal ears (but unlike in Mean Girls, I do not use this as an excuse to wear sexy lingerie. I use this as an excuse to lick people's faces and scratch them).

Anyway, I love elephants. I love pandas even more. I find this to be a disturbing but still amazing hybrid of my two loves. Enjoy. Full article can be found here: www.funster.us/2009/06/pandas-elephants-in-thailand/

Hello, my name is Chris, and I'm a Cakehead.

It feels good to get that off my chest.  My addiction started some years back.  In the beginning, I'd reserve a slice (Devil's food) at the end of every week.  It was my way of starting the weekend.  Back then, I thought, it was no different than smoking a blunt, but somewhere along the way it got worse.

Once a week became once a day.  And it wasn't just chocolate or vanilla.  I'd take bathroom breaks at work to get my fix.  Soon I was hitting all the hard stuff: marble, fruit, ice cream, lemon, moon, pineapple upside down, and pound.  Whatever cake you could name I was eating it.  I couldn't function without taking a bite.  Everyday, normal activities, had to be accompanied with a bite.  I couldn't do the dishes without some red velvet.  My taxes wouldn't get done without a gingerbread upper, and I couldn't sleep without an ounce of angel's food.

Finally, my family intervened.  I remember seeing my mom's tears and thinking, "My god, what have I done?"  I hit rock bottom.

Here I am though: In front of all of you, admitting that I, Chris Correa, am indeed a Cakehead.

Thank you.

intro

Hi All,

Time to get this thing started. We are Cakeheads - a completely different kind of addiction. Our goal is to make you laugh. Perhaps until it hurts. Maybe turn laughter into an addiction for you. But in a good way, don't worry.

We are performing at the Broadway Comedy Club on September 27th at 830 pm. Come check us out. You know you probably don't have any other plans on Sunday night except to maybe watch the baller HBO line up of True Blood, Entourage and Hung - but everyone knows that DVR makes watching TV live obsolete. So come watch some improv, some sketches, and have a rowdy good time with us. Then we'll drink together and forget that we have to go to work at 830am the next day. How could this be a bad idea?

Maybe we'll start this off by letting each of our members tell you a little bit about themselves. I'll start by talking about myself. My name is Elissa. Wesleyan class of 2008. I was one of the first females in Lunchbox Sketch Comedy troupe at Wesleyan - a group that has gone on to perform in CT, Boston and NYC. I am now doing psychology research with the geriatric population. I love old people. I love talking to them. I love watching them. I love pretending to be one. I am afflicted by many physical problems that only old people get too. I have an enlarged prostate and have trouble remembering anything. When I meet you, I'll likely pinch your cheeks and tell you a story about "when I was a kid."

Okay! C'est tout. Check back in for more bios, links to things we think are funny, more info from us in general. Hope you enjoy.
